The Thalians Organization & the Cedars Sinai Medical Center Thalians Mental Health Center

The Thalians organization was founded in 1955 by a group of entertainment industry members, including Debbie Reynolds and Ruta Lee and Jayne Mansfield, as a means to bring light to the darkness of mental illness.

Their biggest fundraising event is the yearly Thalians Ball that attracts standing room only crowds with its galaxy of stars and elaborate productions. Dr. Chenik is Co-Chairman of the Ball. He also is a member of the Thalians Board of Directors.

Over the years, the Thalians have raised millions of dollars to establish the CSMC Thalians Mental Health Center. The Thalians Building houses two inpatient units for acute treatment of psychiatric disorders for adults, the Ambulatory Psychiatric Programs with an outpatient clinic, the Child Psychiatry Division, and the Psychiatric Research Division. There are approximately 1000 inpatient admissions to
psychiatry annually.
